Given today's financial and social climate, businesses all over are seeing turnover rates the likes of which haven't been seen since the height of Covid. Part of this can be attributed to inflation, part of it to the prevalence of remote work (which is only now starting to see a decline), but a poor work attitude can also play a significant role. The most essential ingredient in the recipe for a perfect employee is to keep them happy.
Easier said than done, right?
Not all businesses have the budget to increase pay, and even if they did, that does not produce immediate change. There will always be higher pay elsewhere, and there is no guarantee that a higher pay rate will be viewed as anything more than "keeping up with inflation." Ultimately, this is the most expensive way to keep existing employees happy without any proof of results, even if handled carefully.
